While many of Ukraine’s young people have been traumatized by the war and feel hopelessness for their future, a group of Christian teenagers is being equipped to bring Godly leadership to their nation.
GNA reporter Peter Wooding was at one of their recent gatherings in Kyiv to find out how Christian charity Mercy Projects is investing in the lives of Ukraine’s next generation.

In the midst of the war in Ukraine many young people are not only experiencing God’s peace in their lives, but they are also being trained to be the country’s next Christian leaders.
This is thanks to the youth ministry of the charity Mercy Projects. Each month several young people take part in their Daniel school leadership course. As part of their training their students are equipped to become Bible camp counsellors.
During their most recent Christmas camp those attending had such a spiritual hunger that they continued to worship God late into the night, as Mercy Projects youth coordinator Yana Glushko explains:
I have one example. There was one evening on our camp when the children didn’t want their program to end. Thanks to this time together in worship they are filled and feel protected, safe and also receive hope from God.
And these Daniel school students also shared their highlights during this recent camp:
Making some projects. When we read the Bible.
I like all of the kids. I can feel the love of Jesus.
I really liked our counsellors and our team and I feel that we are like a family.
Yana concluded by sharing her long term vision for the young people of Ukraine:
Our kids will be healthy physically, spiritually and emotionally. And in the future they will be good leaders for God.
