Chaplains Show Compassion and Care in Los Angeles

It’s been a tense time for Los Angeles—and other cities across the United States—as people take to the streets in protest against the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) chaplains have been in LA to pray and have meaningful conversations with people who want to talk.

Eric Hubbard – Deputy Director RRT Law Enforcement Ministry
We are here in downtown Los Angeles. We’re with a team of rapid response chaplains in response to some protests that they’ve had here over the last week or so, some of which have been peaceful, some of which have not been. We are here to pray for peace over the city of Los Angeles.
We’re here to pray for our peace protection over the law enforcement community that’s out here. We’re here to pray for peace over the, those gathering to protest. There’s a lot of people here who are upset, confused, lost. We know that true hope and true peace comes from a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. And so, Lord willing, we’re going to have opportunity to share that peace and that hope and the love of God with those who are here today.
Kevin Williams – Billy Graham RRT Chaplain
We’ve been approached by many asking why we are here, and we told them that we’re here for a ministry of presence. We’re praying that God would meet them right where they are and their anger or hurt or whatever their views are at this time, offering the love and compassion of Jesus Christ.
Byron Pipkin – Billy Graham RRT Chaplain
A gentleman from Singapore, came and sat down and he was visiting here on business and asked what was going on. So I explained to him some of the circumstances, but also was able to, tell him why we were here. That led to a conversation where I was able to share the steps to peace with God, with him, because he only had a minimal knowledge of the Jesus was.
And then I prayed with him, and he wanted the brochure. and he said he’s going to consider it. So I prayed for him that God would make himself real to him, and Jesus would touch his heart.
