INTRO: They ‘re calling it a miracle. During the nightly Russian bombardment of Kyiv, Ukraine, a pastor describes what happened when an explosive drone fell next to his church.
VO: It was one of those nights when hundreds of Russian drones loaded with explosives
flew over Kiev with the goal of spreading fear and death among the city’s residents.
One of the drones fell on the grounds of New Life Church, which belongs to the
Union of Independent Evangelical Churches of Ukraine.
ANATOLIY KALYUZHNY, Bishop As you know, for three years we
have been living under constant shelling, especially in the last weeks. These have
been very terrible, incredibly difficult nights. At night, a drone, which was shot down over Kyiv, it was falling like this, spiraling down, it fell directly onto the grounds of our church. What happened is a great miracle because usually when a drone falls it contains explosives it explodes and causes a lot of harm. In this case God so willed and his mercy and
his miracle that the drone fell flat on this belly and the explosives did not hit
as they should.
VO: Security staff member Oleksandr will never forget that night.
OLEKSANDR, Security Staff: Well, it fell and there was a significant connection. Like a salute, fireworks sparks flew. And then, of course, our heating network and power grid caught fire. Well, and naturally, the fire spread in different directions. This network with a span of four to five meters, I extinguished it literally in five seconds, seconds not
minutes. And this you could say saved all of us here as the fire didn’t spread
further because there were 120 liters of diesel, there was gas.
ANATOLIY (Bishop): And when the explosive experts arrived and started examining the situation, they said someone was born under a lucky star because it’s incredible. And we tell him it’s not just anyone it’s Lord this is a miracle from the Lord mercy from the Lord and today we want you to join us in thanking the Lord for the grace and the mercy he has shown
to us
VITALY STEBENEV, Kyiv (STANDUP): The Bible says the gates of hell will not prevail against church. And I can testify that Russian aggression and war cannot stop praise of God in
Ukraine. Vitaly Stebenev from Kyiv, Ukraine, specially for Global News Alliance.
