Christian charity CRY is running a campaign this month to highlight how they are supporting partners around the world who are helping to break the cycle of poverty through education.
One of those projects that is having a significant long-term impact is an orphanage they are helping in Togo, as the charity’s operations manager Keziah Brennan explains:
They’ve been cared for and they’ve gone to school. They’ve gained schools. They’ve gone on to university or got jobs. And what’s coming back is we’re seeing the circle of support like stories of Roland who 20 years ago comes to the orphanage. He’s now been trained and he’s an optician which he’s running and working there and he’s giving back to children what he was given there
Keziah went on to share how as well as educating the children providing birth certificates for them is also life-changing:
A birth certificate first of all enables the children to attend school but then also to take exams. It will enable them to go to university. It also gives them a sense of identity.
And CRY remains committed to continuing to break this cycle of poverty as they support projects like these in 19 countries around the world.
