The East Coast of the United States just got decimated by Hurricane Helene, and normally, up here in the mountains of North Carolina, we don’t feel the effect.

00:00:09    1

A lot of damaged homes, people have lost their lives here in this community in the High Country.

00:00:14    2

Our community is set up for blizzards, we’re not set up well for floods and so it’s really catastrophic damages.

00:00:20    2

The road that we’re on here, it’s bridge is out on the other end and our slide has got

00:00:25    3

it blocked on this end.

00:00:25    3

Those people, none of them can get out.

00:00:27    3

There’s probably, I would say, at least 50 homes or more in there.

00:00:31    3

If you can help somebody, help.

00:00:34    3

Just bless them.

00:00:42    1

Samaritan’s Purse is responding.

00:00:43    1

We’re sending equipment up here, and volunteers will be going out this Monday starting to help in this community.

00:00:49    1

But this is not the only place we’ve responded to.

00:00:52    3

Banner Elk, they’re out of water, they’re out of food.

00:00:55    3

So we just delivered one load of water to them.

00:00:59    3

The next couple days, we’re going to be moving more water, more food, baby formula.

00:01:04    4

We are outside Watauga Hospital to offer a oxygen service to those that have lost access to oxygen at their homes.

00:01:12    1

The medical system here and also in nearby Avery County at our Linville Hospital, they’ve asked for help.

00:01:19    1

And so as we deploy our teams to help recover from these floods and help dig out homes and cut trees back,

00:01:25    1

we’re also helping medically.

00:01:27    1

I’m just really grateful for

00:01:28    3

the partnership with Samaritan’s Purse, to have a little hope in our community about 12 hours after what could have been probably the most devastating thing that we’ve probably seen in our lifetime.

00:01:37    3

Nobody wants to live through a

00:01:38    2

disaster like this, but one of the interesting things is disaster brings us together in a powerful way.

00:01:43    2

So would you please pray for those Gospel opportunities, bringing people together in the Name of Jesus to serve and to

00:01:49    1

help and bring the Gospel?

00:01:50    1

And that’s why our volunteers go out.

00:01:51    1

They want to serve and love others, but they want to serve in the Name of Jesus Christ.

00:01:55    1
