OVER 100 Christian leaders gathered at Portcullis House in Westminster recently for a Parliamentary Reception to celebrate Shine Your Light, a nationwide evangelistic movement taking the gospel onto the streets and marketplaces across the UK each Christmas and Pentecost.

The event was hosted by Member of Parliament Jim Shannon:

So the whole life of Jesus is about shining the light. That’s what we’re trying to do, shine the light on the message of the Lord Jesus, who came into the world to be the Saviour for us. That’s wonderful story.

Shine Your Light is organised by the National Day of Prayer and Worship (NDOPW), and last year’s Christmas campaign reached more than a million people.

Many testified to the impact this initiative is having across the UK not just on the streets but in different spheres of society.

Deborah Akinlawon is with the Christian Police Association:

We started off being involved with Shine Your Light last year and that was our first time as the Christian Police Association with carol services all across the UK in different police stations and different police headquarters. And it’s been amazing to see how the light of Jesus Christ has been shone in police stations and on the streets.

And Warren Evans shared how they are able to share the real meaning of Christmas through their ministry Sports Chaplaincy UK.

Christmas gives us that unique opportunity to proclaim the good news of Jesus that Jesus Christ is the son of God. We’re encouraging our chaplains to join in and do that in sports clubs, in their stadiums in whenever they gather in wherever athletes are, football players, rugby players, to get involved and to be the hands and feet of Jesus shining their light this Christmas.

And plans for Shine Your Light 2025 were announced starting with a 72-Hour Prayer focus over Pentecost weekend and a weekend of Christmas evangelistic events from in December.
