In Bangladesh, within Muslim society, women are often neglected.

They said to me: ‘Since you’ve become a Christian, we know they put a seal on you after conversion. Now we will check your body for that seal.’

I couldn’t share this with anyone as it was sensitive and deeply shameful experience for me.

In Jorina’s village, some Muslims misinterpret scripture to claim that Christian converts have a special seal on them.

When we received Christ, we didn’t feel the need to hide it from others. We believed we needed to share the truth with others as well. Islamic leaders often come to us with questions, seeking answers. As a Christian woman, they neither love nor respect Christian women.

It feels as if, to them all women are just as good as dead. One day 10 to 15 women from our village took me with them to a place. When they called me I didn’t understand why. They checked every party of my body searching for the seal. But there was no such seal on my body. Then I cried a lot on that room.

Open Doors local partners met with Jorina to provide support, as well as specialized training for women. Through the training she received, she began to empower and disciple women in her community.

We need to organize this among the women as in Muslim culture, women are often undervalued but in Christianity we value women as well. May they come to know Jesus Christ and find their way to heaven. Sometimes when persecution increases in the area we fear to worship in this tin building. Amidst all the persecution, we remain firm in our faith in Christ.

God said, ‘If you must live, live for me. And if you must die, die for me.’ If we must die, let it be for the Lord. If we live, let it be for His glory. So that God can work through us. Just like me, the women I am working with now they should participate in the training. Just as I am receiving these opportunities they too can receive the same opportunities to serve and work for the Lord.
