Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Edinburgh attended an Afternoon Tea in Windsor earlier this month, honouring 15 exceptional Christian women leaders from across the United Kingdom, whose work has impacted hundreds of thousands of lives in communities worldwide.
The event was hosted by Christian women’s empowerment organisation She Leads UK in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of VE Day to spotlight Christian Women in Leadership across the country. Their UK Director is Helena Croft:
Well, today’s event is about honoring women’s wear. Really? We’ve taken 15 women of distinction, and then another 14 women leaders where we have really just wanted to give them an honor and to say that we see them, we celebrate their accomplishments.
And that what they’re doing is absolutely phenomenal. Christian women of distinction. Having Her Royal Highness, the Duchess of Edinburgh with us really was an answer to prayer.
And it was also inspiring because she, like us, is a woman who given to service. So, to have her and to have her support and to be able to thank her for her service and to honor her has been a blessing from the Lord.
And those who received their award from the Duchess said it was extremely moving to be recognised for their contributions to society:
Lou Fellingham – Worship Leader/Singer/Songwriter
It was a really special and quite moving experience and being with Her Royal Highness and receiving that award was it was it felt touching like God sees me.
Nancy Goudie – CEO and Co-Founder NGM Trust
They kept saying that God sees you, He sees the work you’ve done, sees how much you’ve poured into this nation and just blew me away.
Alissa Latty-Alleyne – UK and Ireland National Director CBN
When other women that are women that love the Lord recognize what you’re doing it almost it feels it feels so much more.
Rachel Hickson – Author, Speaking and Founder of Heartcry Ministries
To see a shift in women being given honor, being given distinction, and just to see so many of the girls who we have pioneered together for maybe 20 odd years, suddenly we’re together and it’s a whole new season
And She Leads America Founder Rev Liz Doyle encouraged all those in attendance to continue to do the work of the Lord:
You are healing people. Reconciling people one to another. Where there’s been bitterness you’re bringing forgiveness. And that is what God does, that is what Jesus does. That is what he came to do and that is what you’re doing.
Also in attendance were key Christian leaders from America including Fox News Anchor Harris Faulkner.
Oh my goodness. Just being among all of these really strong women who believe in the Lord infusing God in everything they do, and all lanes of expertise and influence, it really is so impressive. And of course, Her Royal Highness, Duchess of Edinburgh, of course, also showed up. It was amazing.
And She Leads UK is planning to expand their work by launching different chapters of the organisation throughout England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales as they continue to honour and encourage Christian women in leadership.
