Helping South West Michigan After Tornado Disaster

Union City, Michigan, was recently hit by a supercell that spawned an EF3 tornado, leaving many families without homes.

Thankfully, the volunteers of Samaritan’s Purse have begun cutting downed trees, tarping, and cleaning up affected neighborhoods, while spiritually helping those affected by the storms with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

I turn my camera on and all of a sudden, there was the tornado over there. There it is. Tornado. I know when I saw it, I heard the sound. It typically sounds like people say, sounds like a freight train. Sounded like Niagara Falls, like the roar of a waterfall. That’s what it sounded like.

I saw all the debris. I saw the houses go up. And all I could do was pray for help.

Jacob Rutz – Samaritan’s Purse

On March 6th, a supercell came across southwest Michigan. We saw damages consistent of an EF three tornado. The strongest type of tornado that this area has seen since 1977.

This just happened in 20 seconds. That’s it 20 seconds. And the tornado was moving that fast.

Jacob

Samaritan’s purse has volunteer teams in the field as we speak, helping with chainsaw work, tarping roofs, removing debris from the homes. Please continue to keep this community in your prayers as they look towards those next steps as they try to recover from this storm. And please keep our volunteer teams in your prayers as they serve them and just love on them in the name of Christ.
