His Majesty King Charles III unveiled a new aircraft at RAF Northolt in London and met delegates from Papua New Guinea (PNG) to mark the country’s 50th anniversary of independence and membership of the Commonwealth.
The visit also celebrated the 80th anniversary of the world’s largest humanitarian air operator, Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF), which was founded in 1945 by members of the RAF and has been operating in PNG since 1951.

As part of Mission Aviation Fellowship’s ongoing 80th anniversary celebrations this year, King Charles recently unveiled their latest addition to their fleet at RAF Northolt in West London.
The new Cessna 208 Caravan will serve Papua New Guinea’s most isolated people in the coming months.
MAF UK CEO is Donovan Palmer:
For this event we need a King and get we get the King and the answer is even though there was a bit of a health scare over the weekend, we were wondering is he going to be in hospital, he’s going to come today and that’s amazing.
Jerry Pattengale Senior Advisor to the Museum of the Bible in Washington said his thoughts on how this new aircraft will have a major impact:
For this plane transforms places that are almost impossible to get to. It saves lives, it enriches lives. And what comes on the wings and leaves on the wings will be amazing. So, it’s been a privilege to be here.
And..MAF says their global fleet now comprises 118 aircraft and is committed to the long-term support of PNG.
