SCRIPT:

Crowds of around 20,000 flocked to Trafalgar Square in Central London last month on Good Friday to see a powerful production of the Passion of Jesus.

Wintershall – a Christian drama group has put on this free performance almost every year since 2010 with a vision is to bring the story of the life of Jesus to the public.

Charlotte de Klee who heads up Wintershall says it’s overwhelming to see the impact it has on people of other faiths and of no faith:

We have quite a few Muslims who come because the Mayor London says go and learn the Christian story and the openness of the London and they’re just amazed. And I’m always touched that people of alternative faith, I really appreciate that they come and look at it.

And come and see it and I’m always touched that people of no faith come just to hear the story. And people who will never find their way into a church but they might just find their way onto the square on their way to the national gallery and stop to watch or just want to hear what the Christian story is and why is Easter and all those questions.

And Charlotte and her team are already preparing for their next production on the Life of Christ to be performed in June this year at the Wintershall estate in the South of England.
