Somayeh
For 13 years I had to hide my Bible. One day my husband came home and saw the Bible on the table. The baby was in my arms. He took her from me, laid her on the table, and began beating me with his belt.
Somayeh became a Christian after being invited to a church service, but she knew she’d have to hide her new faith.
After her husband found out about her faith, she was able to find support in her church family.
When we gathered in Iran we never mentioned our meeting places over the phone – we used code words and were extremely careful. All phones had to be turned off, and we event removed the batteries to avoid tracking.
Even though we moved to a different city, far away from my house church. God called me to start a new church with new members and I obeyed. I was threatened and received a call from the intelligence service where they detailed all my information and said, ‘we will see you soon.’
I was terrified both from the intelligence and my husband, who was also threatening me. I knew I had to leave Iran soon. I persistent voice kept urging me, ‘buy dollars, buy dollars.’
When the time came I took the dollars and left the country.
Somayeh was able to flee to a safer country. She now supports undercover Iranian Christian women through her online ministry.
Now in my ministry God brings people facing the same challenges I once did. Even from afar, I cannot stay silent. Wherever God leads, I will share His message. My message to everyone hearing this, anywhere in the world is truly pray for the people and Christians of Iran.
