INTRO: A hospital founded by German doctors in the Peruvian Andes recently hosted a music and education festival that attracted thousands of young people from 22 countries for an unforgettable gathering. Journalist Reynaldo Aragón reports from Curahuasi, Peru.

PACKAGE:
REYNALDO ARAGÓN (VO):
Nestled in the southern Andes of Peru stands one of the most modern hospitals in South America: Diospi Suyana, which in the Quechua language means God helps us. This hospital was founded by German doctors Klaus and Martina John and is equipped with state-of-the-art technology for patient care.
Diospi Suyana has served hundreds of thousands of people, most of them from low-income backgrounds.

KLAUS-DIETER JOHN, Founder, Surgeon:
“We began this project as a project of faith, a walk of faith. And we felt the inner certainty that God was going to bless this project. Thanks to God’s faithfulness, He has done at least 200 such beautiful miracles that even atheists and agnostics say, ‘This is something unexplainable.’”

REYNALDO (VO):
But this Christian ministry also focuses on education, communication, culture, and social outreach.
At the same time, for the past three years Diospi Suyana has hosted a music and teaching festival, which this year was called Life in the Andes. More than 4,500 people, mostly young people, took part in a week of concerts and conferences with well-known Christian artists who shared their message with youth from 22 countries who traveled to Curahuasi.

REYNALDO: Hello, how are you? What’s your name?
VISITOR: My name is Leti.
REYNALDO: And you?
VISITOR: Ana.
REYNALDO: And where are you from?
VISITOR LETI: We came from the city of Arequipa, which is about 13 hours from here, from Cusco, Curahuasi.
REYNALDO (VO): And why are you here? What motivated you to come?
VISITOR (Leti): What really motivated us was this movement of praising and worshiping God with different musicians, different bands. It’s amazing what’s happening now.

REYNALDO (VO): The annual concert in Curahuasi ended with an invitation from evangelist Andrew Palau.
ANDREW PALAU: “But tonight I want to introduce you to the living God.”
INTERPRETER: “Pero esta noche quiero presentarte a Dios. He loves you.”
PALAU: “He sees you.”
INTERPRETER: “Él te ve.”
PALAU: “He knows everything about you.”
INTERPRETER: “Él conoce todo sobre ti.”
PALAU: “And He calls you to Himself.”
INTERPRETER: “Y te está llamando a Él mismo.”
