Recently, the Supreme Court of the United States convened for the start of a new term. To mark the occasion, members of the Judicial Action Group gathered in Washington, DC to consecrate the court with prayer. The event was hosted by the Judicial Action Group Foundation and included worship, scripture reading, prophetic prayer, communion, and intercession for the justices.
According to the founder, the gathering is not a protest nor a rally, but a sacred gathering to consecrate the highest court in the land to God’s purposes.
Jauregui: God is moving at the US Supreme Court. God’s using them to bring the nation back and to bring the court back.
Philip Jauregui founded the organization more than 20 years ago. The central mission is to review and recommend candidates for judicial appointments.
Demicell: He’s vetted about 34 possible nominations for the next Supreme Court seat that may become open.
Bert Demicell is the chair of the foundation that sponsors the consecration gathering, an event that is focused on prayer and intercession for the court so that righteousness will prevail.
Demicell: …spoken tonight by everything that was done here tonight. So heavenly Father Lord gathered…
Following training on how to effectively intercede for the court, the group gathered on the steps of the Supreme Court for worship and communion.
Seignious: Almighty God have mercy on each of us gathered here tonight. Have mercy on America, Lord. The gifts of God for the people of God. Take them in remembrance that Jesus Christ died for you. Let’s take the bread together.
The next day, after some had a chance to sit in on the first day of the new term, the consecration gathering took place just blocks from the court. Former Congresswoman Michele Bachmann hosted the evening, where Chuck Pierce and Dutch Sheets inspired and challenged attendees.
Prayers were offered for each member of the court, along with clerks and staff, and the other branches of government.
Kubal: As we consider consecrating the court tonight, let us pray first of all that God’s character would be displayed in the hearts and the decisions of the justices.
