The AbR Media Conference in Kigali, Rwanda was attended by media professionals from around the world and across Africa.
The largest group of attendees was radio broadcasters from South Sudan, who were hosted by Radio South Sudan, a ministry that empowers churches to serve their local communities using low-power radio.

In the Republic of Rwanda, you are welcome, is a very common greeting.
Welcome to Rwanda.
This small nation in East Africa was the site for the eighth Continental Media Conference sponsored by AbR Media.
Ladies and gentlemen, Ethiopia.
Participants made their way from around the world and every corner of Africa. With nearly 30 African nations represented.
The largest group came from Africa’s youngest nation, one that gained independence just 14 years ago.
One of the attendees is Martin Peter, a program manager of a radio station serving Juba, the capital city of South Sudan. Martin, and the other broadcasters see radio as a way to share the word of God.
To, to give the community and all people in South Sudans a very solid information, the gospel of Jesus Christ, that people will dwell in it perfectly.
Martin is one of a group of South Sudanese broadcasters brought to the conference by Mike Gwartney, founder of Radio South Sudan.
So at the AbR conference, they have a gala night and that gala night you’re supposed to come dressed in whatever your country is. So they had white chalk on their face. Uh, they also do this thing where they hold their hands like this. And I said, well, what does that mean? And they said, that means you are a bull and you are strong. And so, uh, they got up there and they were dancing and they came and got me and we danced. And they’re, they’re great young men to work with and, uh, they have a passion and a love for their country of South Sudan. And that’s what we’re here about.
The first time we lose that, the second.
Tarbora is a pastor and radio programmer affiliated with Radio South Sudan. His station, Amazing Grace FM, is positioned to serve refugees from the Darfur region who are majority Muslim.
Up to today, we are still telling people we have faith and we have Christ, and we discover Christ. And we are, we have Christ in our life, and we want that Christ to be wanted by everyone.
I’m Moses Majok, uh, a South Sudanese. Serving God in a ministry is called Radio South Sudan.
Moses is the station manager for Amazing Grace fm, sharing the gospel and ministering to refugees fleeing dangerous conditions to the north
to be a Darfurian’s radio station who will preach to unserved people to be saved. What I’m doing there is a God work, so that mean giving me a, a heart of serving my people. Which is to me is something nice, something good. So, and I, I’m very happy with that.
As the a BR Media Conference concluded, attendees returned home with new contacts, enhanced skills, renewed courage, and an even greater sense of urgency.
