Emergency Hospital Helps Sudanese Refugees Find Peace

As the Sudan Civil War continues after 18 months of fighting, over 2 million displaced Sudanese people have had their lives uprooted, and they are looking for a sign of hope this winter.

Samaritan’s Purse has just opened an Emergency Field Hospital equipped with an operating theatre, full labor, and delivery ward to bring help to the most vulnerable people affected by the Sudan Civil War.

Shannon Hamilton – Samaritan’s Purse

Sudan has been facing a conflict for over a year and a half. Here in Gujarat alone, there’s 2 to 3 million internally displaced persons and over 70% of those are women. Samaritan’s Purse has just opened an emergency field hospital focused on meeting the needs of the most vulnerable women and children. The operating theater right behind me will be able to offer obstetric care and C-sections.

We have in-patient wards for labor and delivery. It’s Christmas Day today. I think about how Mary traveled a long way and could not find a safe place to give birth to our Savior. And so today, we celebrate as we prepare to give these women a safe room and a safe place where they’ll be cared for. They’ll be loved.

They’ll be shown dignity and compassion will be coming into a really dark place and offering them a light and the hope of Jesus Christ. We are committed to being with these people, to offer hope until the needs are met. Thank you for praying for our team and praying for the people of Sudan.
