Joo Min* escaped NorthKorea – one of the darkest places on earth to be a Christian. After meeting Jesus in an Open Doors safe house, she chose to risk everything by returning with the gospel. Here’s her story.

North Korea is the most dangerous place to be a Christian.
If their faith is discovered, believers face imprisonment in labour camps, or even execution.
Due to mass starvation and human rights violations, many people attempt to flee the country, but few survive the perilous journey.
Joo Min has crossed the border twice.

“Living was a daily struggle. Father told me I had to provide for my family. It was a heavy weight on my shoulders. Driven by necessity I crossed the border in search of work. I met someone there. He introduced me to a safe place. While I was in the safe house, I heard the Gospel for the first time.
“I was changed. And I felt like God was telling me something. Go back to North Korea. I felt a calling to share everything I’ve learned with other secret believers in North Korea. So I made the decision to cross the river once again. I know the risks involved. If I am caught, I could end up in a labour camp paying a heavy price for being a Christian now. Pray for protection and courage so that I can be like salt and light in a land overshadowed by darkness.”
