When Typhoon Sinlaku struck Saipan earlier this year, Temara asked God for strength and protection as her family endured the storm.
Once the Typhoon passed, Temara’s house was in ruins, but hope was not lost as she received emergency supplies from Samaritan’s Purse, which helped her realize that, amidst all the chaos the storm left behind, God was still there protecting her family.

I was standing at the doorframe of my bedroom. I asked God for his protection over us, over the home that my husband and I put our love and our work into. I needed that strength because my husband wasn’t here. The winds were louder than my thoughts and it terrified my kids. I got to my parents place. I’ve never encountered a typhoon this long.
I was finally able to go outside. My road was blocked with branches and trees. I wasn’t sure that my home was going to be okay. And when we got here and I saw my home immediately, my heart just sunk. We don’t have power. We don’t have water. The mold here is starting to build up. This house wasn’t going to be liveable for us.
My husband was away on military training. There were a million things running through my mind. I didn’t know how to move forward. It wasn’t until Sunday. One of the songs that this song was Firm Foundation. There was always some way that God reminded me that he was there.
Samaritan’s purse just offloaded here in Saipan. Top lights, tarps, generators, all things that the people inside here need following this super typhoon. Getting these supplies out to the people. As I pan as fast as we can.
Temara
When I got the resources from Samaritan’s Purse, I cried all the way home to my parents. It was God working in the midst of the chaos.
I want everybody to know how faithful our God is. Even though my home was damaged, He did protect us. He kept us safe. Just the fact that we’re alive. We’re here. We’re grateful. Christ is my firm foundation. The rock on which I stand when everything around me is shaking. I’ve never been more glad I put my faith in Jesus.
He’s never let me down. Faithful through generations. So why would he sell now? This is where he strengthens our faith.
