Nick Ohrdorf: I grew up going fast. I grew up in BMX bikes, motorcycles, um, skiing, playing hockey. Um, some point along the way I transferred from chasing adrenaline to chasing, uh, drugs and alcohol.
Reporter: After overcoming his addictions and committing his life to Christ, Nick Ohrdorf found a new mission.
Nick Ohrdorf: Father God, we just, uh, thank you for the men and the women that have showed up here, Lord.
Reporter: As founder of Fast Life Ministries, Nick produces and sponsors action sports events as a way to share the gospel with a community that goes fast and hard, too often in the wrong direction.
Nick Ohrdorf: So yeah, Fast Life Ministries primarily operates in the action sport space, and we just try to share the love of Christ in these places.
Reporter: Collin Huffer came to Pueblo, Colorado to race his e-bike in the open A class.
Collin Huffer: They’re putting on a really good race this year. The course is awesome, and I’m excited. It’s super competitive. We got a huge range of riders between, you know, the guys who are just starting [00:01:00] out and the guys who are really good, about to go to pro. And I’m also on an e-bike. I think I’m the only one in the A class who’s gonna be on that.
Nick Ohrdorf: And then once we get to Triple Crown, it’s a moto style race.
Hard enduro motorcycle racing is a cross between trials motorcycles and enduro racing. Um, some of it’s very, very technical and very hard. It’s probably easiest to connect that to, uh, like a Tough Mudder race, like where you’re really pushing your body.
Reporter: Kailey Rhoten and her family came to watch husband Eric compete.
Kailey Rhoten: Um, we had friends that raced it last year, said it was really fun, and he wanted to come back. So we brought the whole family over to come watch him race, and we’re just hoping that he stays safe and has lots of fun, and if he gets a good result, that’s even better.
Eric Rhoten: It’s difficult and, you know, you never get to ride your dirt bike in town, let alone a meat packing old abandoned warehouse and, uh, it’s just really neat.
Reporter: I asked Kaylee what she knew about Nick and Fast Life.
Kailey Rhoten: From what I’ve heard, like, he [00:02:00] is just like a super genuine person. He, um, is really passionate about the sport.
Nick Ohrdorf: So the ability to have this event, be able to share the gospel through it, and show the good side of Pueblo, Colorado is, is just kind of at the, at the core of all of it.
Reporter: BMX chaplain and ministry partner Dustin Orem shares Nick’s passion for serving the action sports community
Dustin Orem: Oh, it’s such a ble- I love his heart to serve and to, to meet people where they’re at, and to help in the physical needs, and then bring that, that spiritual component o- again, who Christ is and what He’s done. And so it has just been a joy to get to work with him and to really see his heart that has been transformed by Jesus, and to just be so vulnerable with people on how the Lord has transformed his life.
