Hundreds of thousands of families are still struggling to rebuild their lives one year on from Myanmar’s devastating 7.7 quake. In response Christian charity World Vision is facing numerous economic challenges to provide livelihood recovery for households across the country, including US Aid funding cuts as well as the fallout from the war in Iran.

World Vision Myanmar’s National Director Dr. Erwin Lloyd Guillergan says despite this they are impacting many lives including vulnerable children.

We’re providing health clinics, long-term items, hygiene kits for those in need. In fact a year after the earthquake World Vision was one of the few organisations that was able to reach more than 500,000 people and about 195,000 of these are children. As a Christian organisation what we try to do is we accept anybody who comes to our doorstep and asks for support. There is no stronger Christian message to anybody when they know that you’re helping anybody who is vulnerable, weak and poor.

And World Vision’s long term plan is to continue to provide sustainable support to enable these families to provide for themselves.
