Many Christian pastors and evangelists throughout Pakistan continue to face extreme persecution including kidnappings and even torture, often leaving them with no source of income.

Christian pastors in Pakistan are increasingly experiencing persecution for pursing God’s call on their lives to share the love of Christ.
PETE STAND UP: Imagine here in Pakistan, God has called you to ministry whether that be as an evangelist or pastor, but you find yourself being kidnapped, tortured or even imprisoned for your faith. You’re left with nothing. No way of funding your life. That’s why Help The Persecuted is stepping in with their Enduring Shepherds Fund to help with some of their living expenses at least for a year. We’re going to visit some of the homes of these people to hear their stories now.
Nearly ten years ago Nasir got into a fight during a cricket match, until an older man, a pastor came to break it up. He shared the gospel with Nasir, who was convicted by his prayer. Returning home that night, he went straight to his church and wept in prayer and confession, resolving to be follow Jesus for the rest of his life.
Now he’s an assistant pastor, but after recently sharing the Gospel in a Muslim neighbourhood, he was badly beaten.
CLIP ONE: They beat me. I was abused. I was threatened by them. And I got injuries by them. And I had to go to the hospital because of the persecution on me, because of sharing the word of God.
Nasir was extremely grateful when Help The Persecuted stepped in to help him following this attack as part of the Enduring Shepherds Ministry, which provides yearlong support so that pastors can remain on the ground, serving in hostile regions.
He says this has enabled him to continue to minister the Gospel today:
CLIP TWO:
So my ministry is going very well, and it is very fruitful now. And I’m going to other nations and preaching the Gospel reaching people, winning souls and my mission is to give them the salvation news.
Another Enduring Shepherds Ministry recipient is Rehan, who, like Nasir..
is a full-time evangelist impacting many unreached Hindu and Muslim communities throughout Pakistan. However, in September 2024, he was on a mission tour when he was kidnapped by a tribe. He was threatened, beaten and tortured, suffering greatly. For 20 days he was held in their makeshift jail. He describes how God helped him during this devastating experience:
CLIP ONE:
So during my captivity in the cell, I had a strong faith in my heart. So I continued to pray and I had a faith that God will take me out from this And this happened with me after 20 days.
One of the head of the tribe he came to me. He said to me that we are going to release you. But never come here again.
Rehan says the support he received from Help The Persecuted was a real lifeline, making it possible for him to continue his outreach ministry:
CLIP TWO:,
It solved my many financial problems for my family as well in my ministry in of evangelism. It is a big change for me. I need prayer for myself that I can continue this work without any hesitation so I can reach more people. I can preach more people. so that I can evangelize and give them the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ. And I just need this prayer for my ministry in my evangelism.
And Help The Persecuted continues to stand with many more courageous Christian leaders like Nasir and Rehan as part of their Enduring Shepherds Ministry in Pakistan and many other countries across the Islamic World where Christians are persecuted.
