The 10th annual Sing! Conference was recently held in Nashville, Tennessee. The conference, sponsored by the Getty Music Foundation, promotes hymns and congregational singing, corporate worship, and teaching.

Reporter: [00:00:00] If you think singing hymns is so 17th century, let me introduce you to Keith and Kristyn Getty.
Now in its 10th year, the SING Conference is a celebration of hymns.
Keith and Kristyn Getty and the Getty Music Foundation sponsor the event, where thousands of worshipers gather to sing hymns old and new.
Keith Getty: The Bible is very insistent on singing to the Lord. It’s not a, it’s not a casual suggestion. It is very much a command. And therefore not to sing is a sin.
Reporter: And sing they do, filling the conference hall with a chorus of praise and worship.
Keith Getty: We need the Bible, the Word of God in our language. We need teachers who can explain it to us. And then we need songs that help us carry the Bible out of church.
Reporter: The theme this year celebrated William Tyndale and the [00:01:00] 500th anniversary of the English Bible translation from Greek and Hebrew.
Attendee 1: Memorizing Scripture through song I think is one of the best ways to have it just constantly on your heart.
Attendee 2: It’s fun to sit in a room with 7,000 other like-minded people and listen to great music, make great music, and worship the Lord together.
Attendee 3: This is a glimpse of what singing will be like in heaven. Uh, everybody getting together. Uh, even if you don’t think you can sing, you can sing.
Attendee 4: And it really is very multicultural. Seeing all the various people here from all over the world, it’s awesome.
Attendee 5: Yeah, I think it’s very encouraging. Yeah, the, the Getty, uh, people, they kind of incorporate the whole congregation to join the worship. I love w- worshiping the Lord, uh, with people, so this is first time and very encouraging.[00:02:00]
Reporter: One of the Getty’s most popular modern hymns is In Christ Alone. Its beautiful melody and rich theology make it a favorite of congregations around the world.
And for those who enjoy American roots music, the Petersen family from Branson, Missouri, hosted a bluegrass jam session in the Sing Village
Katie Petersen: It’s an honor to be a part of the Sing Conference. We’ve listened to the Gettys for years.
Reporter: Katie Petersen is the musical leader, fiddle player, and oldest of the four siblings.
Katie Petersen: I love their heart for worship, their mission and what they do, and how they unite so many different styles and denominations and people, and so there’s nothing like being a part of that room where thousands of people are all singing from different backgrounds. I think that’s a beautiful picture of heaven. We’re all gonna be worshiping forever. It’s the one thing that never ends, and so the Gettys are kind of just introducing a piece of heaven while we’re on earth.
Reporter: Honoring God through song, [00:03:00] scripture, and sound theology, the Sing Global Summit is expanding in 2027 with an additional conference in Costa Rica.
