The two earthquakes that shook Venezuela left many people without everything they had. Juan was trapped without light, food, or water until he was freed two days later. Despite the loss he had suffered, the high-quality physical and spiritual care he received at the Emergency Field Hospital provided by Samaritan’s Purse helped him find peace and comfort in his soul after such a challenging time.

When the earthquake began I fell down from the fifth floor to the basement. I stayed there two days without anything. No lights, no food, no water. They started to take me out with ropes. They pushed for six hours. All my body hurt. My knees, my back, my foot. I can’t breathe too well. Painful, painful, painful. I lose everything.
I don’t have anything. A nurse here made me paper shoes. I feel so happy for that too. She is a good nurse.
They are good doctors. They treat me like a friend. I feel so comfortable with the treatment with the medicine, with the nurses, with everybody.
And the doctor prayed with me. That’s beautiful when you got on their knees and pray with me. I love that. Nobody do that for me. I love you. I’m happy.
