Equipping Africa’s Educators and Leaders

Every two years a Christian children’s charity gathers together their ministry partners from across sub-Saharan African to encourage and equip them in their ongoing work among young people.

Recently they hosted a Forum in Tanzania in East Africa, which included an inspiring visit to one of their Masai tribe pre-schools there.

As many children face extreme hardship throughout Sub Saharan African, one Christian charity is on a mission to break that cycle of poverty through a number of projects ranging from feeding programs, schools to orphanages and children’s homes.

CRY which stands for Care and Relief for the Young recently hosted a forum in Tanzania for many of their partners from several countries in this region to encourage and equip them in their ongoing ministry efforts. As well as a series of workshops, times of worship and prayer, delegates were taken to Maasai land, where they visited a pre-school supported by CRY.

The charity’s Emma Jackson explains more:

So we got to see the pre-school Lion of Judah and we got to meet the 42 children who are there. And we got to see that project and bless those children with some additional gifts and then all the children blessed us with gifts as well and said thank you for their school and thank you for having somewhere they can learn and then we also met the Masaii tribe there as well who are a part of that team.

Jackson says it’s key that they facilitate ongoing support to their partners on the ground throughout Africa:

What we hope for these forums is that it’s not just being part of the team together every two years. It’s that we’re creating a network, a ministry, a family, a support system.

And delegates came away from this forum belonging to a lasting African movement of like-minded educators and leaders.
